On May 18, 2017 I got the call from the jewelry store that it was time for me to pick up the engagement ring that I had purchased for Jenna just a couple weeks prior. For months I had been trying to come up with ideas to make it a special moment for the both of us & I was still unsure of what to do. I picked up the ring on my lunch break at work. When I got back to work I showed all of my coworkers the ring that I got her & all of them were in awe. After work, I had class due to the fact that I was in the process of getting my MBA at the time. During class, my mind wandered off & started to picture what a proposal might look like & then I realized that I didn't want to wait any longer to ask her. I started texting friends to see if they were available to come & take pictures that night. I told my group that I was in for a class project that I needed to leave, because I needed to propose to my girlfriend. I drove to Fraze Pavillion which is near Jenna and I's home that we bought earlier in March. The details were still swirling in my mind as I drove. I called my mom to make sure that I wasn't completely crazy, & she assured me that I was crazy... but not about this. I arrived at the park, & 2 of my friends met me there to get pictures. I called Jenna & told her that I got out of class early & was trying to be nice by picking us up dinner from a restaurant in Fraze called Roost American, but that I had locked my keys in my car. Jenna believed this because just 2 days before she had to bring me my keys at Walmart, because I locked my keys in my trunk. She parked her car, & started walking over to Roost American, but I instead told her to walk across the street towards the fountain. She did, & I was waiting for her near the entrance of Fraze & she looked really confused. I grabbed her hands, & proceeded to propose, however I don't remember exactly what I said because of all the nerves, but I was lucky she said yes to spending the rest of our lives together.
It was about 8:45pm on May 18, 2017, when Tyler called me to tell me that he had locked his keys in his car for the second time that week. He told me he needed me to bring him his keys to Roost American, a restaurant near our home (we've never eaten there before... ever). Confused, because I thought he was in class until 9:30, I asked why he was there. He told me he was trying to be nice and bring home dinner for us (who eats dinner at 9pm). Mildly irritated, I drove to Roost American. I was on the phone with Tyler the whole time, and when I arrived to the restaurant, I got out of the car and started walking towards the building, then realized it was closed. Tyler then told me to walk across the street towards the fountain at Fraze Pavillion. Even more confused, I started walking. While I'm walking I notice 2 people... 1 by the fountain "stretching" and creepily staring at me, and another one peeking out from behind a bush trying to take my picture. I continued walking and there he was with probably the biggest smile I've ever seen. He grabbed my hands and then got down on one knee, and asked me if I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him. Of course, I said yes, because I can't imagine my life without him. Afterwards, the sketchy runner and photographer came over and I realized they were actually Tyler's coworkers!
