We wanted nothing more than to celebrate our marriage surrounded by friends and family but due to the Coronavirus restrictions, we have regretfully decided to cancel our wedding on June 6. Ultimately, we want to prioritize the health and safety of the people we love the most. We will continue to monitor the situation and tie the knot in a way that is safe and special. We don't know all the details but know that we are excited to start this journey together and cannot wait to be husband and wife. We know that you all will be there to support our marriage and family in the many years to come and wish you could be with us on our wedding day. We love you and hope everyone is staying safe and healthy. We are very blessed to have such a wonderful group of family and friends that support us!
Work, that is. See, we both became teachers and by sheer chance, Ryan took his first year teaching job and ran into Jenna (who already had been there for a year) and introduced himself. It was a week before school started and Jenna was running back and forth from the copy room with a frazzled, emotionless game face on. She had to get these copies printed and Ryan was a confused first-year teacher just looking for some tape. Needless to say it was a short conversation. Luckily for the both of them, they started to carpool from Columbia to Jefferson City and quickly became close friends.
Ryan had planned the entire thing. Go on a hike with Jenna and ask her on the trails where they first hung out and then drive her to Edwardsville where he had planned a surprise party with her family. And then it snowed 17 inches... Ryan was determined to make sure the proposal was still going to happen but he had to change his plan. Jenna and Ryan made it to the Broadway Diner and had a nice breakfast. Then they walked through the campus quad and Peace Park. As the snow was coming down Ryan got down on one knee and Jenna said yes!
