How We Met

...okay, let’s see if we can make a long story short.

Mike and Jenna met during their early years at Bucknell University, probably at a Super Saturday (but that’s beside the point). As the years went on, Mike and Jenna became close friends, but dating wasn’t on the agenda because Jenna was in a relationship with one of Mike’s friends and then moved halfway across the world for a semester. Flash forward to senior year: Mike and Jenna were great friends, loving life and secretly each other, oh and most importantly, were single! One fateful day in the fall of 2013, Mike, bold as ever, told Jenna he liked her as more than a friend. Sparks fly! Senior year from that point on was full of romantic meals down at the caf or nights snuggling up in the corner of a frat basement. Then, graduation came. Jenna, freaked out about life post Bucknell (and maybe a little scared of love), and Mike, ready to start his life as an engineer, broke up. They went their separate ways—Jenna to DC to live with Jenn and work at a job that wasn’t paying her, and Mike to live with Aidan in Elkton, MD and work in a lab. The leaves changed and suddenly it was winter, and the two found New Year’s 2015, a night for Bucknell friends to reunite, was quickly approaching. Jenna (obviously freaking out) decided to go. As the night wound down, the ball dropped and all the things that happen on New Years happened-- Smithers (thanks buddy) forced Mike and Jenna to talk. Emotions spilled and the flame re-kindled. The two stayed up all night talking and realized they had something special and worth giving another shot. They haven’t gone a day without talking ever since.

The Ceremony

1.1.20

As you can imagine, New Years Day holds great significance for us. It is a day universally meant for new beginnings and New Years Day 2015 was a new beginning for our old relationship. In those quiet hours, with only a few close friends nearby, we recommitted to each other on that cold night in New Jersey. When we decided to get married, we knew that we wanted it to be about our love. As we rapidly approached the new decade, we knew that New Years Day would bring a new chapter of our lives. On January 1, 2020 we tied the knot in an intimate wedding ceremony. We said our vows without an audience, just as we did in the early hours of New Years Day five years ago when we rekindled our relationship. We ate our favorite food, drank our favorite drinks and danced the night away. But, we are certainly not done doing those three things yet! As people who we love and value, we cannot wait to celebrate with you in August. We want to bring our huge families and all our friends together to celebrate love, change and new beginnings!
