We heard it is Hurricane Season in the Islands in August....is this true? According to the U.S. National Weather Service, hurricane season in the Caribbean runs from June 1 through November 30 and normally peaks in August and September. That is also why this time of year offers the best values for travel. Be sure to get Travel Insurance for hurricanes or severe weather events.

We'd like to visit St. John while in the area....what's the best advice for a day trip?

We recommend taking either the car or person ferry from Red Hook to St. John. Be sure to check times for ferries back to St. Thomas, as the car ferry ends earlier than the people ferry.

Will we need a car on the island?
Answer
Most people will enjoy having a car on island, as there are no Ubers or Lyfts, only taxis and Safaris (open air jeep transport) If you are staying at Emerald Bay Resort, for just the wedding weekend, you won't need a car.
