It all started outside of Dooley’s Pub on one of those bitterly cold February nights—the kind where your breath fogs up instantly and you start questioning all your life choices, especially the one where you left your warm bed to “just go out for one drink.” I was out with friends, absolutely freezing, wrapped in a stylish but completely impractical coat. That’s when I saw him—Jared—standing nearby in what looked like the warmest, coziest hoodie known to humankind. He looked like a walking blanket. I, a shivering human popsicle, made the executive decision to strike up a conversation… purely for survival purposes, of course. “Hey… uh… is that hoodie as warm as it looks?” “Yup,” he grinned. “Want to see for yourself?” We ended up standing there talking, my frozen fingers gradually finding shelter in hoodie territory. What started as me using him for body heat turned into something a little warmer, a little funnier, and a lot more lasting. Little did I know that moment outside a pub would lead to years of cruise ship sunsets, spontaneous weekend road trips, and memories from five countries so far. Somehow, that warm hoodie came with a man who’s part adventurer, part personal heater, and full-time travel buddy. Now we have a house filled with love, laughter, and one sassy four-legged fur baby named Buddy. Buddy is 40% fluff, 60% sass, and 100% convinced the entire world revolves around him (and to be fair… it kind of does). He tolerates us as long as we keep the treats flowing and the belly rubs coming on demand. Looking back, it’s funny how love can sneak up on you—not in a grand, movie-worthy scene, but on a sidewalk in the dead of winter, with chattering teeth and a really good hoodie. So, here’s to random nights, questionable decisions, and the kind of love stories you never see coming—but wouldn’t change for the world.
