Our story begins in July of 2024 when I first came across Holt on social media. He was pretty hard to miss- and I definitely noticed how cute he was- but since he lived in Hays and I lived in Wichita, I never imagined our paths would actually cross in real life. Little did I know!!! Fast forward to mid September, Halee Glover (one of my bridesmaids) asked if I wanted to go up to Hays for Oktorbest and see one of our favorite country music artists in concert which happened to be the same weekend. Of course I said YES!! On a whim, I immediately remembered Holt was playing football at Fort Hays State University and gave him a follow on social media. I didn't think much of it at the time and I certainly wasn't expecting to ever meet him in person... Then came that weekend. It was around 1:30 A.M in the morning and I was at the Sip & Spin Bar. My friend Halee and I were sitting at one of the tables chatting when I see Holt walk in. (the bar closes in 30 minutes LOL) Somehow, we immediately locked eyes, and then both quickly look away. I had no idea he even recognized me. After getting his ID checked, he walked straight up to my friend Halee and started talking to her. Naturally, I assumed he was interested in her (I mean shes gorgeous & blonde- obviously!!) What I didn’t know was that Halee and Holt already knew each other since they were both at FHSU at the same time. A few moments later, Holt reached his arm across the table to introduce himself to me- and in the process accidently knocked over Halee’s mega vodka sprite that she had just ordered, spilling it all over her tennis skirt. We were all shocked and he was mortified it looked like LOL. Meanwhile, I was still convinced that Holt had just “blown his shot” with Halee. Halee & I ran to the bathroom and attempted to blow dry her skirt which reaked of vodka. I busted out laughing and told Halee that it was unfortunate that Holt had blown his shot with her only for her to reply with “Uhm what do you mean? He was talking about you the entireee time.” I remember being in complete shock as I had misinterpreted the entire situation. We left the bathroom and went back to the tables but at this point it was almost 2:00 a.m and the bars were closing. Holt & his friends offered to walk us back to where we were staying and we agreed. I basically was nailing Holt with interview questions our entire walk home such as “Where do you want to live after graduation?” “What do you do for work?” and “Do you like to workout?” hahaha. I’m surprised I hadn’t scared him off with all these burning questions. He answered them all and started checking off so many boxes. I didn’t know what to think at first. After all, I had never imagined I’d meet my husband in a bar in Hays, Kansas. Something felt different about meeting Holt- we had so much in common and so so many mutual friends that it was a wonder we hadn’t crossed paths before. God waited until the perfect moment to put this man into my life and I couldn’t be more thankful. From that weekend on, Holt & I saw each other almost every weekend whether that was him coming down to visit me in Wichita after his football games or me driving up to Hays. We did long distance for six months before moving into our first home together. We got engaged on November 22nd, 2025 and the rest is history. We would like to thank our friends & family for their support and we can’t wait to celebrate with you all!
