We don't have a definitive timeline of how we met, as we grew up going to the same church and youth group. Because of that we always knew the other existed, just didn't run in the same circles until high school. Doug jumped at the chance to be my swing choir partner in my time of need as a way to get my attention, all these years later you could say it was a success.
Last August we had the wonderful opportunity to go on an Alaskan cruise put on by Doug's work. We were on our first excursion of the trip, hiking through the temerate rainforest in Ketchikan. Half-way through the hike, we stopped at an overlook that looked towards a waterfall that typically had bears. While there were no bears that day, I think we got something much better. Doug played it off that we were just going to get a picture taken and as I went to walk away, he grabbed me and then popped the question. I had a feeling the proposal would happen on the trip, but I was caught completely off guard when he did it then. Obviously I said yes, over the sounds of our tour guide totally freaking out about what she was witnessing.
