Jenna and I first met at Watermark Church in Dallas, Texas over the summer of 2021. I had heard of Jenna through a mutual friend but did not get the opportunity to spend time with her until later in the summer at a July 4th party. That day, I made it my personal mission to make sure she would remember me by the end of it. Within an hour, Jenna and I were at each other’s side talking about family, traveling, and her hometown, Dothan. I gave her the nickname Dottie that day, and I wouldn’t find out till later how special that was to her. Leaving the party that night I could not stop thinking about the girl from Dothan. Her Joy, Ambition, Authenticity, and Humility. We continued a friendship throughout the rest of the summer. Late night talks, group hangouts, and one special night at Waffle House, grew our admiration for each other. Without knowing, both of us could not wait for the next time we would see each other. It was time for me to ask her on a date. Finally at the end of the summer, I called Jenna on the phone and asked her if she would go on a date with me. That phone call lasted another hour and I began to wonder what a life with Jenna could look like. It was not a casual get to know you on the first date. We both wanted it to go really well, hoping and praying that the connection would transition to romance. We were right. Jenna has shown me the Lord’s love and grace every day since. She serves, loves, and carries herself through the Lord’s provision. I am truly humbled that she has chosen to love me for the rest of my life. Life with her will be the greatest adventure-journey.
