In the fall of 2016 at a mixer between Phi Kappa Tau fraternity and the William & Mary Pep Band, Avery and Jenna met over a bowl of barbecue chips the same color as the autumn leaves. Avery asked Jenna to share, and it quickly became love at first bite. Just a few days later, they had their first date at the campus coffee shop The Daily Grind, and by the time they celebrated the last day of the semester with the famous mac and cheese from Blue Talon Bistro, their relationship was official. Throughout their college years, they loved spending time together watching movies (especially The Room, a cult classic whose raucous screenings were an annual tradition), reading on the Sunken Gardens, and making frequent late-night Wawa runs. When Jenna graduated and moved to New York City, their relationship went long-distance, until Avery accepted a job offer there as well. His only condition for where they would live? “Anywhere but Manhattan.” Avery and Jenna found their dream apartment in Brooklyn, moving from one Williamsburg to another, where they enjoy cooking together, adding new books and collectibles to their overflowing shelves, and keeping up their movie habit at Nitehawk Cinema. At the edge of the East River, overlooking the New York City skyline, at the same spot where three years prior they had signed their lease, Avery proposed, eager to start their new chapter together in the same place where the previous chapter began!
