Adam was visiting ASU to see if he wanted to move to Phoenix. He met up with some people from church for lunch, and Jenna was there. Adam immediately knew he was about to have a crush on Jenna when he moved to AZ. When Adam left, their friend Willie (who is now their officiant) said to Jenna, “Well, he’s your type,” but Jenna wasn’t so sure. In January, Adam moved to Phoenix and they built quickly became good friends.
Jenna was living in Budapest for a One-Year Challenge, but that didn’t stop Adam from pursuing her. For more than six months, they Facetimed and texted, and Adam encouraged Jenna to stay focused on God and invest fully in her mission. With the help of some Phoenix girls who planned a trip to visit Jenna, Adam surprised Jenna by flying to Budapest and asking her to be his girlfriend. They were at her favorite place in Budapest (Liberty Bridge). She said yes to being his girlfriend, and they all (Adam, Jenna, and Phoenix girls) spent the weekend enjoying their trip to Europe!
Adam and Jenna went to MOD Pizza before heading to a soccer game with friends. Jenna was waiting for Adam to say the L-word, and was always asking suspicious and targetted questions to try to get Adam to say it. Jenna: “Soooo what has been on your mind lately? How are you?!” Adam: “Well... I’ve been thinking a lot about our relationship, and how I feel about you. And I’ve decided that I think I’m in love with you.” **Adam smiles and nods. Jenna smiles and blushes.** Jenna: “Aww... thank you! I love you too.” **Both are giddy and don’t know what to say.** Jenna: “Wait, so you THINK you’re in love with me, or are you actually in love with me?” **Adam laughs.** Adam: “No, I am in love with you.” The rest of the night Jenna and Adam were giddy and saying “I love you”.
Jenna and Adam were planning a date night for their 1.5 year anniversary. Adam was paying a lot of attention to the small details of the date, and Jenna became suspicious, but all of the back-stories of their friends covered up for it. They went to dinner (at 5 pm LOL) and then planned to drive around a rich neighborhood in Scottsdale to look at houses. As they drove up a hill in a neighborhood, Jenna noticed a friend’s car parked on a side road, and then she knew. Jenna: “Adam, is something happening right now?” Adam: “What are you talking about? I don’t know what you’re talking about...” *Internally, Adam begins to freak out.* Jenna: “Is IT happening right now?!” Adam began to read his proposal speech in the car as they drove up to a private driveway. Once they got to the top, they got out of the car and walked up a path that led to a lookout. The view was of the sunset, Cameback Mountain, and all of Scottsdale. Adam finished his speech, got down on one knee, and proposed. Jenna was bawling. She said the ring was perfect and hugged Adam- while uncontrollably crying and thanking him repetitively. Then Jenna’s friend (who’s car was park on the side street) came over to take pictures. Then they drove to their engagement party where friends from Phoenix, Chicago, and San Diego all waited to celebrate with them.
