Having been set up on a blind double date, a first for both of us, we met at the Triple Door for some cocktails with our match making team (Nikki & Nate). After a fun night Brian was gentleman enough to offer a ride home, but we soon learned that we were trapped inside the parking garage due to a malfunctioning gate. While we plotted our exit plan and patiently awaited a repair we headed upstairs to a British pub. Finally on our own for the first time we got a chance to get to know one another better. There was an instant attraction (...ahem first kiss) and ease between us from the start. We did finally make it out of the garage that night and planned our second date for the following weekend. As time went on we got to know one another over hours spent on the phone (a very romantic gesture on Brian's part in the era of texting) and began planning our first of many trips together. We soon realized that living in different cities wouldn't last for long (there are only so many times you can beg your friends and family to babysit - special thanks owed to Joanna & John, Shannon & Gramma and Meghan & Traice!) and after a year of dating and shuffling between houses we moved in together and merged our families.
