On May 6th, we will be eloping in Sedona, exactly seven years after our first official date, surrounded only by our immediate families. With so many life changes happening at once and a lot of uncertainties in the air, we chose something intimate, simple, and rooted in what matters — each other. We’re truly sorry not to be hosting a traditional wedding, but we look forward to finding meaningful moments to celebrate with our extended family and the friends who have been part of our story. This day isn’t about a big event — it’s about honoring everything we’ve built over the last six years. Two best friends who fell in love, grew through every season, and kept choosing each other. And now, we’re ready to make that choice official. We met on March 9, 2019 — a night out in Old Town Scottsdale that neither of us expected to mean anything. But apparently AJ took one look at Jeni and immediately commented on her eyes, while Jeni took one look at AJ and immediately assumed he was gay. (To be fair, he was dressed very well. And to be fair again… she still brings this up.) What started as easy conversation and a few jokes turned into something neither of us could ignore. Even from the beginning, everything felt strangely natural. AJ realized within a week that there was something different here. Jeni took a little longer — about two months, one official date, and one very handsome outfit later. The years that followed weren’t glossy or perfect — they were real. We navigated long distance, job changes, moves, new cities, getting dogs, buying a house, and the heartbreaking season of Jeni’s dad being diagnosed with and passing from ALS. Through every chapter, we showed up for each other the same way we always have: as best friends first. Our relationship works because it’s us — a balanced mix of opposites. Jeni: quiet until she hits you with a one-liner, movie quote, or song lyric. AJ: extroverted, goofy, and somehow friends with everyone within a five-mile radius. We annoy each other on purpose, try to make each other laugh until the drink comes out of our nose, and still choose quality time over anything else. Jeni gives thoughtful gifts; AJ cooks because… well, he doesn’t trust her cooking. And we support each other in ways that actually matter. What people always say about us is true: we’re fun, we’re supportive, and we really are each other’s person. At the core of everything is what we value most — growth, family, humor, and showing up. After six years, countless life changes, and more inside jokes than we can count, we’re excited to make this official. Not because everything has been perfect, but because everything has been real, and because through every season — the fun, the hard, the quiet, the loud — we chose each other. And we always will.
