During the holidays, Zach and I enjoy looking at Christmas light displays, specifically the one at Sar-Ko-Par Trails park in Lenexa. We go every year and walk around the park, taking pictures, and looking around at all of the lights. This year was no different. We had planned to go to the park after work on December 30th, 2024 and it had been lightly raining all day. I had already had a nail appointment after work so when I got home from that we got ready to go walk around the park. It was cold and rainy so I wore my thickest sweatpants, and coat to stay warm. Zach in his trusty mechanics overalls. We get to the park and there are only a few groups of people there. We walked around a few laps taking pictures before we went to the gazebo for more pictures… or so I thought. We take a couple pictures in the gazebo and just when I turn to exit, Zach gets down on one knee, opens a black velvet box containing the most beautiful ring, and asks me if I will marry him. I said yes and started crying with happiness and excitement. He put the ring on my finger and asked if I would smile for the camera, and that’s when two of our friends, Helen and Jakson walked out of the shadows. They had been there the whole time recording the proposal. Zach had been planning the proposal for a while and with the help of our family friends who make beautiful jewelry, together they created the ring that Zach proposed with.
