Our Story

March 2020, the ideal time to match with someone on Hinge! The new ice breaker of choice was what are you doing to stay sane during the pandemic. It was a good sign when we both answered "building LEGO, what about you." Then came the next question of how do we actually date. Thank goodness for zoom and trash TV. We would stay up every evening talking for hours and occasionally watching a show (we perfected the count down and pressing start at the exact same time). After a full month of building what we later quickly realized was a strong foundation we were sick of zoom and decided to expand our bubble and quarantine together. We quickly found a fun rhythm working from home (in different rooms of the house, realizing one of us was a let's circle back person). Finding breaks to have lunch together, shutting down the laptop to cook dinner, pouring wine, and picking a new show to start became our quarantine cadence. And now, instead of zoom dates, we were having fun building LEGO together, enjoying fires in the backyard, building forts, going on walks, crushing Jen at Mario Kart, giving haircuts, decorating for holidays, and ordering lots of food and drinks 😉 As we began to un-bubble, we had a blast getting together with all our friends and family with many trips to Las Vegas, Myrtle Beach, Lake Anna, New Jersey, New York, Deep Creek, Ski Trips, Beach Trips with the family, camping trips, and so much more. After two years of adventures and making memories with each other, we knew we never wanted this to end. On Friday, July 8th, 2022, Jen suggested going out to dinner since it had been one of those weeks! Steve had plans in his head for this opportunity and suggested they go to The Royal for dinner. We enjoyed a lovely Latin American dinner platter and some Colombian beers and wrapped up at the restaurant. On the way home, Steve suggested that they walk back a different way so they could stop by a wine bar - this was all a ruse. As we walked back, we arrived at Anna Cooper Circle and Steve suggested we sit for a few minutes and enjoy the pretty scene. As we sat, Steve got down on one knee and asked Jen if she wanted to change a letter in her name! From his pocket came the ring that Jen had no idea even existed yet! Jen immediately said yes and we then were overtaken by emotions! We never did end up going to the wine bar... Now, we're preparing for our wedding and celebrating our love with all of you! We can't wait to see you all in September!
