On Saturday 9/28, our guest Janet Camello will be guiding a hike up Mount Battie trail in Camden Hills State Park ($6 entry fee) for panoramic views of Penobscot bay and downtown Camden. This hike is 1.1 miles round trip and considered moderate with some rock scrambling with elevation gain. Please meet at the trailhead at 9AM. Directions: From downtown Camden head up Mountain St. and take Left of Spring Street. (only a mile or 2 out of town). On Spring street take a Left on Megunticook st. (It looks and feels like you are driving up a private driveway but you're not! There is very small parking lot at the trail head. You can park in the large 1st lot that you pass and walk the .5 miles to the start of the trail or you can drive to a smaller lot that puts you right at the start. If hiking is not for you, you can drive to the top via the Mount Battie Auto Road.
If you can't join the guided hike, we recommend visiting Camden Hills State Park at another time.It is a short drive outside of downtown Camden with plenty of hiking options. We recommend the Mt. Battie Trail (1.1 mi) up to Mt Battie Tower and Mount Megunticook trail (2.6 mi.)
