Our Story

They always say, relationships work better when you are friends first

It all started with a 10.0 tennis league and a lot of Corona's on a Tuesday night. Little did we know that this coincidental interaction would be the start of something neither of us knew would turn into the present day. From many nights out together in a large friend group to an unplanned dinner that was just the two of us in 2019, we quickly realized that there was something between us. With the world coming to a halt and a global pandemic unfolding in 2020, we still kept in touch with our friend group on facetime and day to day chats. Once the world slowly started to open up again, we had the chance to take the group hangouts out of the group chat, and start spending time over some tennis and some white claws after a workday (because what else were people really doing anyways), and slowly going out to dinners out with friends, which later became us branching off and spending more quality time just the two of us, that summer. Loic quickly knew that Jen was special to him and towards the end of the summer before a trip Jen had planned to Colorado, he asked her to make it official. A month or so later, Loic moved to Astoria for a new job in Advertising but also to be closer to his now girlfriend. The winter was filled with outdoor dining, exploring the city as much as they could in a "half open Covid world" and getting to know each other more and more. As our lives merged into one with each passing week, it was time to take the next steps and move in together. With this move came challenges, especially when it came to Loic's taste in home decor, but it also came with a lot of unforgettable memories in our first home together. We were able to welcome our friends and extended family. As we continued to make new memories in the city and also our first real vacation to Tulum in 2021, Loic knew that he wanted to make the next trip unforgettable. With positive changes in both Jen and Loic's jobs in 2022, they were both able to plan a 2 week long trip to Italy and France, which made it Jen's first time in Europe and Loic's first time home in over 3 years. We were both ready for the next step at this point in our relationship to be engaged and it had been spoken about, however Loic said "Not this year, but definitely next year." What Jen didn't know is that he already had the ring ready in France with his parents, made by his family's jeweler, ready for their Euro trip. Loic asked Jen's parents for her hand, and both were so happy with the news and easily said yes. As the trip approached closer and closer, Loic was anxiously waiting to get to France, get the ring and execute his plan to propose. Once they arrived, Loic debated on multiple instances on when this moment would happen. From landing in France, to getting to Italy the following morning, to lunch at the resort, but he was too nervous and couldn't find the right moment. He finally gained the courage right before dinner. After some convincing for Jen to wear "the right outfit", they make it downstairs to an area that was well lit up outside of the hotel to "take a quick photo with the parents" (who are also on the trip and helping coordinate the whole moment). The stage was set and Loic went down on one knee and proposed. Jen was shocked beyond words but so happy. The remainder of the trip was spent enjoying and exploring Ravenna, Venice and Lake Como in Italy, Jen meeting all of Loic's extended family in Mulhouse and exploring Strasbourg in France, all as a newly engaged couple. Since then, we've continued to grow in our day to day lives; personally, individually in our careers, with each other, our close friends and family, and with our fur baby, Ace! We can't wait to celebrate our marriage with all of you!
