Jen Richey grew up south of San Jose, California where her childhood was full of trips to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and the Monterey Bay Aquarium. At the age of 11 her family moved to Camas, Washington where Jen quickly fell in love with the culture of Portland and grew into someone who embodies all the great aspects of Pacific Northwest lifestyle. She graduated from Camas High School and went off to University of Portland in pursuit of her lifelong dream of becoming a teacher. In the spring of 2018 Jen interviewed for a job at Washougal High School where she met her future husband. Kevin Reilly grew up in a military family and spent most of his childhood on the move. When he was 8 years old his family settled in Vancouver, Washington where Kevin filled his time with sports, sports and more sports. He graduated from Heritage High School and left for college at Western Washington University. In his first term, he was inspired by a professor to seek a degree in education and he never looked back. After spending some time teaching in Seattle area schools, Kevin was hired as a math teacher at Washougal High School in 2017. One year later Kevin would find himself on an interview panel tasked with hiring a new math teacher. That teacher was Jen. Kevin was blown away by Jen’s passion for building relationships with students, equitable grading practices, and inspiring a love of math. Jen and Kevin would eat lunch together everyday discussing shared interests in horror films, folk music, and sports. It was a bet on a Packers-Seahawks game that led to their first date. The happy couple have spent their years together going to concerts, watching movies at the Hollywood Theater, hiking through trails all around the Pacific Northwest, and chasing their corgi Clara around their house. On May 31st, 2021 at Cathedral Park, under the St. John’s Bridge, Kevin asked Jen to marry him. They are excited for the countless adventures that await in their journey through life together.
