It was a cool, yet bright Saturday afternoon. An astonishing happening was abound; the man of lifelong work had finally come to the decision to retire. As such, two hopeless romantics descended on the festivities with similar expectations; visit, mingle, maybe grab a free bite and drink, and then bounce. Through nothing was presumed, a chance meeting occurred, a discussion of 15, maybe 30 minutes between the two. Then, nothing more. He went on to enjoy the company of family while back in town, her to resume her confectionary arts for an Easter’s treat. Neither believed in the idea that the other would be of consequence as she was “not thinking of dating for awhile” and he was in the mind set of “I don’t think anyone wants to have a long distance thing” with him. Yet fate has a funny way of gathering great(ish) minds to act. Chapter 2: The Happening From this chance meeting of our protagonists, Brian and Tom posed the query, “wouldn’t they be good together?”. From that point, she was asked if she was seeing anyone to which she replied, “still single as a Pringle”. He received a mention that he and Jen should date and that “Brian and I can chaperone”. It was on. Jordan received Jen’s phone number and… proceeded to sit on it because he was too nervous to text her. Then, after much working up of courage, he texted her “Hey there, this is Jordan, I met you at Dave’s retirement party! Brian gave me your number, how you doing?”. Clearly, he has the smoothness of a plaster wall and wit of a snow man. The tedious progression from small talk to in-depth discussion proceeded, not excluding favorite colors. Though unsure, the two proceeded to the all critical first date. Of which would begin the cascade into matrimony that, yes we are getting to. BTW, Jordan is writing this. Ever heard him tell a story? Believe it or not, this is even more direct than he normally is. Yeah, we know….. But thanks for reading this far. Anyway! Chapter 2.75: Date and more In agreement of a time and location, the two set off to meet for the 2nd time. Pleasantries to begin the evening, gave way to serious talks as the night flew on, hours passing but feeling like minutes in the enjoyment of discussion. Before long it was late, and time to depart. The night ended with two differing thoughts; one of sudden captivation and the other of OMG can I do this long distance thing?! Though they were enjoying their time, only continuing to test the theory of their attraction to one another. Dates came and went and she was invited to the lake by his Mamaw before she had ever met anyone else. The reason for this is similar between the both of them; they had met someone by whom they were treated with equal affection and respect.
