What airport should we fly to?

Answer

Ponta Delgada (airport code PDL) is the only airport in the island of São Miguel. If you are flying from the US, we recommend you fly with Azores Airlines (SATA) from Boston or NYC, which offers a nonstop flight of about 5hrs.

Where should we stay?

Answer

Ponta Delgada is a great option because it offers many restaurants, our venue is here, and you can easily access other parts of the island. Furnas is another option with its pictureque and idilic views, yet it may be more expensive. Riveira Grande is a central location with more affordable prices, and João's hometown is a short distance away.

Your invitation will specify. If it is not noted there, then we are your dates!

Can I bring my child?

Answer

Absolutely! Children are welcome and we will have childcare available during the reception. We ask that they come come dressed for the occasion and remain on their best wedding behavior! 🎉

What is dress attire?

Answer

We kindly request formal attire. Ladies, we encourage long gowns; gentlemen, a suit with a tie or bowtie. Please do not wear white. September in Ponta Delgada is warm and breezy (~73°F), with humidity that can make it feel warmer - especially during outdoor cocktail hour. A light, breathable fabric like chiffon or georgette is highly recommended. Since cocktail hour is in a garden, please skip the stilettos - a block heel, wedge, or flat sandal will thank you later. We'll be dancing until 1am, so consider bringing a second pair of shoes to change into! Our ceremony is in a church, cocktail hour in the garden, and dinner and dancing indoors. How many days before/after should guests plan to stay?

Answer

Our wedding celebration is a one-day event, but São Miguel is absolutely worth the trip! The island has stunning natural scenery, hot springs, volcanic lakes, and incredible food. We recommend building in at least 3–4 extra days to explore. You won't regret it!

Question

Should I rent a car or is public transportation available?

Answer

We recommend renting a car! Public transportation is available within Ponta Delgada, and buses do run to other parts of the island, but having your own car gives you the freedom to explore São Miguel at your own pace, which is absolutely the way to do it.
