Yes, if you don’t have one start the process today. If you already have a passport, get up now and go find your passport to make sure it is good until at least June 2020.
It depends on your plan. Call your cell phone provider to see if you need to do anything to use your phone in MX. Also, give your credit card company a heads up that you will be traveling.
November will probably be cold where you are flying from. Mexican customs and immigration does not care. The lines can sometimes take over an hour and it will be hot and humid while you wait. Pro tip: Wear sweats or other loose pants over basketball shorts or something similar. Once you get off the plane toss your pants in your carry on. You can also pack shorts in your carry on and change mid-flight. If you are traveling with children be sure to bring a snack and something to keep them preoccupied during this time! Remember that cell phone use is not permitted while you wait. When you get to customs there will be someone that tells you which line to go to. You should probably listen to them, but if you want to risk it, look for which section has the most open windows, these lines move faster. Stay calm and know that sunshine and cervezas are waiting for you on the other side!
You will need a valid passport with an expiration date of more than six months as well as two forms that will be provided to you on the plane before you get to México. Fill out ALL of your paperwork ahead of time on the flight (bring a pen). There will be pictures in the Customs line to show you what you forgot to fill out, but just take a few extra seconds in the comfort of your airplane seat to look through everything.
Most of you will have this included with the room, but if not, book ahead of time. DO NOT rent a car, you will need to pay all sorts of extra fees, not to mention driving on the main road can be dangerous and most of you are not good enough drivers. I recommend these shuttle services: CARM - https://www.cancunandrivieramaya.com/ (Pay ahead of time) USA Transfers - http://usa-transfers.com/ (Pay Cash)
Make your restaurant reservations on day one, when you check in. Most of you have booked a premium room so ask for a list when you check in at the concierge. You can adjust later. Pro Tip: If your first choice restaurant is fully booked that night, book your 2nd choice for 30 mins after you want to eat and just stop by your first choice to see if there were any last minute cancelations. Most restaurants have a dress code so bring some extra pants. If you're not interested in making a dinner reservation and want a more casual night, the buffet is always available without a reservation.
No, premium rooms have a premium check in lounge! Just ask the bellhop where the premium check in lounge is and they will direct you.
If you booked a premium room you get free WiFi, better alcohol, and 24hr room service that is included. You also get daily access to the spa where you will enjoy the spa pool, steam rooms and hot/cold tubs. There is also a nice discount for spa services if used in the first 24 hours from check in. Pro tip: always ask for name brand or top-shelf booze. You booked a premium room, act premium. And feel free to ask for a double.
Tipping the staff is not required but strongly recommended. These people work hard so you can relax and the better tipper you are the better service you’ll get. Pro tip: bring $2 bills for tips. People really seemed to like them and you’ll be remembered!
It’s hot and humid in November so prepare for that. Pro tip: Pack some clothes or items from your home state or favorite team, it gets people at the pool bar chatting.
Do nothing to piss off The Jeneral. This is her week and I will end you if you upset her.
Just one, re-read #1 and actually get off your butt and go do it!
