Known for their extremely cheap Italian subs (we get the veggie sandwiches). Eat them in a nearby park. There will be a line, but it moves fast.
Our favorite east side hike. It's pretty gentle and mostly covered. See a pretty waterfall at the end (drought dependent).

Nothing fancy, but one of our favorite spots in LA. The vegan pho is truly excellent. This is also on Atwater's main drag that is home to a lot of cute spots.

The best (and cheapest) breakfast burritos. It is just a window, but you will see people lined up outside. They keep weird hours so make sure to look it up first.
