Dusty and Jen may have started dating in May of 2015, but they've known each other for many years beyond that. Dusty was a year behind Jen in school, but they ran in different circles. Jen still remembers the trip they took to skills Olympics where their team dominated in business related challenges. Jen graduated, and moved to the Pacific Northwest. Dusty graduated and participated in shenanigans with Shaun. Fast forward a few (**cough-10-cough**) years. Jen and teeny tiny little Lucy had some professional photos taken together. The photographer posted those photos on social media, and Dusty saw them. They reconnected through Facebook, and went out for a drink. The rest, as they say, is history.
Oh where to start here! Jen had signed up for the Napa Valley Women's half marathon and Dusty and Jen's mom were going along to cheer her on. Dusty had developed a plan that this would be the perfect time to ask Jen to be his wife. This would include 4 of Jen's favorite things in life: Running, her mom, Dusty, and wine! Dusty asked Jen's mom for her permission just a couple days before they left on their trip so that Renee (Jen's mom) didn't have to sit on this secret and keep it from Jen for too long. Renee said yes and was very excited! Next came getting the ring to California without Jen finding out. Dusty's dad had brought the ring from the safe from his house to give to Dusty the Friday before they left as Dusty was going to watch some March Madness and have lunch before they left that Friday. Little did Dusty know that Jen was going to stay for lunch as well, so he had to be very sly in going out to his dad's truck and getting the ring without anyone knowing. Dusty successfully got the ring hidden in his back pack and was ready for the trip! When going through security Dusty got stopped and patted down, so Jen was being helpful and putting all of Dusty's items back into his backpack while he got patted down. Dusty was sweating bullets at this point because he was afraid Jen would find the ring hidden in his back pack while putting his stuff away and the surprise would be ruined, thankfully she didnt find it. Then comes Sunday morning and Jen is out crushing her half marathon. Dusty is tracking her every move along the race knowing he is about to ask his best friend the most important question of his life. When Jen crossed the finish line, Dusty's heart was racing faster than ever before. Jen came thru the finish line, Dusty hugged her, got down on one knee and told her a few reasons why hey loved her and wanted to spend the rest of his life with Jen. Jen said yes! and then the celebration planning began!
First things first, my names is Lucy, Lucy T. I think Mom and Dusty getting married is going to open a rainbow of possibilities for me. You see, I'm an only child. So I get to spend a lot of time with them. I hope that we get to do a lot more together now. You can see me walking down an aisle near you soon, as the mini bride. I'll be the one in the fancy dress. Anyhow, I love Mom and Dusty. They're sweet, generous, courageous, strong, supportive, and funny. And they both love me very much. I just know this wedding is going to be a hit!
