Rent a boat
We have had great experiences renting a boat from Cobalt Boat Rentals. It is a beautiful way to spend a day and to see Austin Hill Country. Ask for Captain David!
Walk, Run, Bike the Trail
The Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail is walking distance from wherever you are staying downtown and is a great way to explore Austin and get some exercise in. We both love going on runs on this trail!
Go Watch the Bats
At around dusk each night, 1.5 million bats fly out from underneath the Congress Bridge- the world's largest urban bat colony. Go see!
Shop Around South Congress
South Congress has tons of boutiques, coffee shops, bars & restaurants. It is a great place to walk around on a sunny day. Don't forget to take iconic tourist pictures and try not to get hit by a scooter!
Eat Tacos
If you are interested in breakfast tacos we recommend Taco Deli or Taco Joint. If you are interested in lunch tacos we recommend Torchy's Tacos or Velvet Taco. If you are interested in fancy tacos we recommend ATX Cucina.
Eat BBQ
If you want fancy BBQ we love Lamberts. If you want BBQ with an Asian twist we recommend Loro. If you like waiting in lines we recommend Franklin's (you can BYOB to the line). If you like going on long car rides we recommend Salt Lick.

Driskill bar for great cocktails in a historic hotel.
Drink on Rainey Street
The Rainey Street Historic District is a street of historic homes turned into bars/restaurants in downtown Austin, Texas. Fun during the day or at night!
