We serendipitously met one fateful evening among the paint chipped, exposed brick walls and aged wood booths of the American Ice Company. We enjoyed some delicious whiskey sours and as luck would have it had our first date one week later.
Who doesn't love the slightly old-fashioned nature of actually going out on a date —and in our case our first date lasted hours! Our first date was at Poste Moderne in the Mandarin Hotel in DC. Known for it's hipster cocktails and great cheeseboards - he nailed the first date location. From there we ventured to a couple of our favorites spots in Chinatown getting to learn more about each other before dropping Jena off at her train stop. Little did they know - both would go on many more adventures.
Fast forward to fall of 2013 - Rob and I took our first road trip for 8 hours! Starting our drive after work, a learning moment for us never to repeat! Had to nap in a grocery parking lot on the way. But it all paid off once we got to our destination - Charleston, South Carolina. We spent the weekend exploring Market Street, and local favorites like Hominy Grill and Hyman's Seafood. Of course -- made a stop at Wet Willie's for some frozen daiquiris.
We moved in together in the spring of 2014 and called Bethesda home for four amazing years. But by 2018 - it was time for us to spread our wings and find our first house. As luck would have it - after tons of online searches Rob found our home on the very first in person appointment! After seeing the house and making a detailed pros & cons list - we put in our bid and bought our very first house! In the Summer of 2018 - we moved to North Potomac, Maryland.
In the Spring of 2019 - we had the opportunity arise to rehome a very special cat from our friends and we leaped at the chance for our family to grow by one fur baby! Leon came sauntering in our home and into our hearts. He enjoyed 16 glorious months of being an only child until one day there was a tap tap tap on our back door. And there on our patio was little Orion. Orion came back each night for over a week before mysteriously ghosting us for four months. Without any sign of him returning - Leon settled back into his routine until...one night Orion returned and stayed! Our family has now grown to include two fury babies and we couldn't be happier.
