We met the old fashioned way aka online. Matt was the first to initiate hello when we matched by using the line "Howdy doody pretty lady." Jena thought that was hilarious and sweet, so the conversation began. After a few weeks of talking back and forth we decided to meet up. The plan was to meet on a Sunday afternoon at Urban Chestnut in The Grove, but an ice storm threw a wrench in those plans. We rescheduled for the next evening. We talked, drank, ate, and laughed for four quick hours at which point we decided it was time to get going, but we both knew there was something special between us. Just a short month later Matt let "I love you" slip out one night. Mortified, he thought he would scare Jena off, but she felt the exact same way about him. A year and a half later on 10/10/20 Matt was planning the last BBQ at his house as he was moving to Columbia with Jena. Not only was it a BBQ, but also a proposal. It had been a dream of Jena's to get engaged at Disney surrounded by family and friends, and Matt made that come to life in his backyard with a Cinderella Castle backdrop and fireworks. We've spent the last two years anticipating this day, and we can't wait to celebrate with you all on 9/10/22!
