After a long rant to my friend Celine about how I wasn’t sure that the Lord had marriage in mind for me, she turned to me and said, “No, I don’t know why, but I just know for a fact that you are going to get married.” She seemed so sure, and even though I was skeptical, she sparked my faith. I went home and re-uploaded Upward, a Christian dating app that I previously had but deleted due to the overwhelming amount of urine present in the dating pool. After going back on, I really didn’t have that much of a better experience. Everyone that would try to talk to me was… weird! Anyways, one day while having a faith-filled conversation with my friend Candace, I said to her, “I don’t know why, but I just feel like I am going to get married next year!” To which she replied, “Why not! God can do anything!” About a month later, I was sharing my screen with my friend Carrilee, and we were swiping left and right on guys as a joke, and I accidentally swiped left on this really handsome dark chocolate man. But later, his picture came back around, and I swiped right! After a few conversations about my new puppy and his ridiculous name, our passion and dreams surrounding community service, and our love for God and family, my interest was piqued. He was so calm but still interested. He made conversation and took genuine interest in what I was talking about, while also telling me about himself. He was kind, funny, smart, and FINE!!! He felt so safe! Not long after, he asked for my number, and ever since he said hello on December 14th, 2024, we have never gone a day without a hello. Now, I will never know what it is like not to say hello to him again until the Lord calls us home. I feel like the most blessed girl in the world. Jemina Miller Braide turned out to be more than anything I could have asked or prayed for, someone who is from a totally different part of the world but just sees me, loves me without reservation, is sure when I am not, and so much more. Truthfully though, there are three main lessons to learn from this story: 1. God is faithful to His promises 2. You need friends that can speak faith into you when you don't have it. Friendship is sacred, treat it as such. 3. Even the ghetto conditions of the dating pool cannot stop the plan that God has for all of our lives! God is trustworthy, don’t believe the lies. So much more can be said, but it’s long already, so I’ll end it here and say; The future is mighty bright with Mr. Braide in it ❤️
It all began when I signed up on a Christian dating site (Upward) in search of a God-fearing lady. On December 14th, I came across a profile that made me curious, a pretty face that looked different in every picture she had uploaded. I wasn’t sure, but I swiped right, and then got notified that we matched. I was so quick to say hello, and we introduced ourselves. At that same time, I was on the phone with my friend, Michael, who jokingly said, “That’s your wife,” because I told him I was chatting with someone who said she had a dog. (I’m a dog lover, by the way.) I laughed about it, but ever since that first hello, the hello that led me on a journey, a journey with the strongest communication and bond I have ever felt, a journey filled with similarities, shared goals, and productivity, I knew something special had begun. A journey that has now given us the opportunity to invite each and every one of you to witness our joining in Holy Matrimony under the covering of God. Her name, Krystal Daniele Grange. I remember asking her what she was looking for (lol), and I spent days asking her all the questions I had prepared. She answered them like a pro eventually convicting me in areas I didn’t know needed conviction, and motivating me deeply. Without question, I prayed and continued my conversations with her until it hit me, a confirmation. We both then decided to commit to a relationship. Down the line, in the early months of our relationship, I had to travel back to Nigeria for some personal reasons. It scared me because I thought we might lose the connection and bond we had built. But throughout my time in Nigeria, we stayed connected, starting each day with prayer and Bible study, and sharing every single moment and experience we had individually while apart. (Mind you, prayer is the key!) Coming back and seeing her was one of the most exciting feelings I’ve ever had apart from seeing my family, of course on July 9th. I see how that one swipe, that one “hello,” was never by chance. It was God’s perfect timing His plan unfolding before our eyes. To my beautiful bride, Krystal thank you for saying yes to this journey, yes to us, and yes to God’s purpose. And to everyone reading this, thank you for being part of our story. Here’s to love, faith, and a lifetime of answered prayers. ❤️
