Jamie and Lance’s story began with a simple connection and a lot of prayer. A mutual family friend first introduced the idea. Around the same time, Lance was seeking guidance of his own. He committed to the Daniel fast, praying intentionally for clarity about whether he should pursue getting to know Jamie. Each time he prayed, he felt a deep and steady peace about reaching out to her. Meanwhile, our family friend shared the same encouragement with Jamie, describing Lance as kind, thoughtful, and sincere. Jamie took it to prayer as well, asking that if it was right, God would move Lance to reach out. That very same week, he did. Their first texts quickly turned into long conversations, and it didn’t take long for them to realize how much they had in common. From a shared love of traveling and dreams of visiting every national park, to their favorite action movies, their connection felt natural and effortless. Even more meaningful was their shared love for God and their deep involvement in their faith. From their very first phone call, conversation came easily. Hours would pass on FaceTime without either of them noticing. Lance was drawn to Jamie’s kindness, the way her eyes lit up with excitement and curiosity, and how naturally she put others first. Jamie was drawn to Lance’s genuine heart, his laughter, his generosity, and his goofy, relaxed nature, not to mention his incredible musical talent. After countless conversations and growing anticipation, they finally met in person when Lance picked Jamie up from the airport in Oklahoma City. Their first date was quintessential Oklahoma: ice cream at Braum’s. What started with prayer, faith, and a little encouragement from a mutual family friend, has grown into a love story rooted in purpose, joy, and a shared journey ahead.
