Her Version

I initially heard of Jelvin through a mutual friend of ours. He mentioned Jelvin and showed his pictures to me saying we would be a great match, because we’re both fobby and Mohanlal lovers. A Kna boy that’s fobby AND likes Mohanlal?! Count me in! When I saw his picture I remember thinking he's cute, but I don’t know if he’s worth the climate change I would experience if I moved to Chicago. A year later, because of a few friends' persistence, I made a profile on Dil Mil. Never in a million years did I think I would go for someone through a dating app, but since my friends had success with it, I thought it wouldn't hurt to try. After making it, I lost interest pretty quickly. I was going to close and delete my account but then, I saw Jelvin's profile. I was taken by surprise because he looked familiar. Unlike most of the profiles I saw, he definitely stood out to me. He had pictures with his parents kissing him on his cheek and seemed like such a family-oriented guy! I took a chance and swiped right! Suddenly, I saw a notification pop up on my phone that we matched. The very next day, I got a notification that a Jelvin Joseph messaged me. After a month of non-stop texting, multiple phone calls, and facetimes, we finally decided to have our first date. I remember getting in his car thinking ooo he smells good! Also, he bought my favorite chocolates, Fererro Rocher so I was smitten. I had never felt so nervous but excited at the same time but, during the date I felt an instant connection! We went out to dinner and conversation just flowed—it was as if I’d known him for years. It helped that even though I was so nervous, he made me feel comfortable with him and made me laugh throughout the date. After dinner, I knew that I wanted to see him again. I felt a sense of security, comfort and connection that I hadn’t felt before, and that’s how I knew he was the one. We had very similar view points on what we wanted in life and we’re both very family oriented. After our date, we watched a Mohanlal movie "Spadikam" (all my fobby people out there know that at this point it was game over). I knew that if we committed to each other long-term that I would not only have a partner to do life with, but also a best friend. Fast forward, here we are three years later planning our wedding and I am so excited for this new chapter! Jelvin is someone who is genuine, honest, and makes me laugh till my stomach hurts. We are total opposites when it comes to our personality. He is realistic, sarcastic, witty, and great at math while I am very dreamy, dorky, silly, and someone who SUCKS at math. Although I used to be worried at how opposite we are, I realized God paired me up with someone who would balance me out, and I know I can always count on him. I want to thank God for bringing Jelvin into my life, and I can't wait to celebrate our big day with everyone soon!

His Version

The story of how we met is probably one of the coolest stories ever. I was swiping through dil mil trying to find my dream girl, and there she was! Houston's finest, Josilyn Thomas. She was really cute, looked family oriented, and perfectly fobby for me. I swiped right and never looked back. We started talking and Josilyn sent me a couple of corny beta blocker jokes because I am a pharmacist, and I was like okay perfect she definitely won’t be the funny one in our relationship. However, I quickly found out that she was so down to earth, loved psychological thriller movies, and above all loved Mohanlal more than any other man. I thought I was the biggest Mohanlal fan, but little did I know that I would have to compete with the man for my girl's attention. We bonded over Malayalam movies and songs, and I finally got the courage to ask her on a date. She was coming to Chicago for her cousin Majesh and Lincy’s wedding and we decided to meet up before the wedding. I was a little nervous since it was the first time we were meeting, and I wore my favorite blue shirt. I picked her up from her hotel and saw that she was wearing blue too. It was destiny. I could tell Josilyn was nervous too, but she was talking a lot and that helped me calm down. We went to Au Cheval and got the best burger in the world even though Josilyn could only finish half of it. We laughed and talked and got to know each other more. I really could be myself when I was with her and felt so comfortable. We then went to Navy Pier and took a ride on the ferris wheel where I told Josilyn that I would love to go on a second date with her. She got a little shy and red but agreed to it! Time went by and we took many trips to Houston and Chicago meeting each other’s family and friends. We got closer and I started calling her Jos while she started calling me thendi. She’s one of the funniest people that I know and never fails to make me laugh and brighten up my day. Josilyn was always there for me during my worst moments and has always helped me keep a positive attitude towards life. She makes me dream and always showers me with gestures. I knew I wanted to marry her, but wanted to make it special because I knew how romantic she was and always complained that I wasn’t romantic enough. With the help of her family and friends, I asked to marry her on December 4th, 2021 at Buffalo Bayou Park in Houston Texas. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with my person and can't wait to call her my wife. Oh and can’t wait to make her shovel the Chicago snow.
