It all began with two swipe rights on Bumble (not sponsored, though we’re open to it). Ashlie was drawn to Jellyn’s warm smile, and Jellyn, a dental hygienist, couldn’t help but notice Ashlie’s... excellent teeth. Jellyn played it cool at first, keeping things vague and mysterious for weeks. But after plenty of texts and late-night phone calls, the two finally made plans to meet. Jellyn drove up to Ashlie’s LA apartment to watch the NBA Finals, and Ashlie surprised her with flowers and coffee for the long drive home to the OC. That first night, through to the next morning, was filled with hours of conversation, laughter, and even a few tears as they connected over deep, personal stories. From that night on, something just clicked. And the rest? Well, that’s history in the making.

Jellyn thought it was just an innocent weekend trip to visit Ashlie’s old college town: San Luis Obispo, CA. What she didn’t know was that Ashlie had been secretly planning the perfect proposal for weeks, stressing over every detail. To get Jellyn to the beach without suspicion, Ashlie told a little white lie about meeting up with friends for a sunny day by the ocean. But when Jellyn got dressed into a swimsuit, Ashlie had to pivot (and fast) and expressed that it was actually a surprise beachside photoshoot so that Jellyn changed into a dress (phew!) Luckily, Ashlie’s sorority sister Paulina was already in on the plan. She’d gone ahead to Montana de Oro with a local photographer to set the scene. But like any great love story, things didn’t go exactly as planned. The stairs down to the beach were surprisingly closed, so the plan quickly shifted to a cliffside proposal instead. After getting slightly lost (and maybe a little flustered), Ashlie and Jellyn finally arrived at the new spot, where a cozy teepee had been set up overlooking the ocean. There, Ashlie pulled out her laptop and played two videos: one filled with shared memories, and another featuring messages and love from the people who have supported our journey. Then came the moment. Ashlie led Jellyn to the edge of the cliff (where Jellyn, half-jokingly, asked not to be pushed off). Ashlie, nervous and emotional, forgot most of what she had planned to say. Trying to lighten the mood, Jellyn smiled and said, “I think this is where you ask me.” With a deep breath, Ashlie pulled out a custom heart-shaped ring box she’d been hiding for a year. Inside was the ring, and a quote from none other than their bestie, Taylor Swift: “And all at once, you are the one I have been waiting for.” And just like that, the next chapter began.
