How We Met

... And Two Should Become One!

Jeimy and Danny first met at a mutual friends birthday party, in August of 2011. On the first go round, it was Jeimy that initiated contact (Jeimy's version of the story). According to Danny, contact was initiated mutually. They dated for a few months, but did not seem to agree on the direction of their relationship. Their lives took them in different paths and even to different States. In April of 2017, while Jeimy was completing the last year of nursing school, Danny reached out via instagram. The innocent gesture was their new beginning. After several weeks, and countless messages, they were both finally able to meet and had their 2nd first date. On June the 2nd of 2017, at a random corner in northwest DC, two friends met for a drink. At the time, neither of them imagined how meaningful that corner would become. Their first date was the most amazing night they have ever had. They talked for hours. They filled the night with great stories and lots of laughter. After closing down three different establishments and sharing the world's best good night kiss, they became inseparable.

The Proposal By Jeimy Duran

May The Force Be With Us!

May the Fourth was a warm Saturday. Danny had planned a dinner with his parents and my mother. I was scheduled to work that day, but was able to get a coworker (Thanks Regina!) to come in early so I could leave at a decent time and hopefully make the reservation. The reservation was at our favorite restaurant, Barcelona Wine Bar, which happens to be very strict about reservation times. I was excited for the dinner since Danny's parents, who live in Tampa, were in town and we had never gone to dinner all together. My mother, who knew the plan, convinced me to get a "casual yet nice" dress the week before. I hurried home that day to get ready. Unfortunately, my hair did not cooperate, I ran out of my favorite eyeliner, and put on the wrong lipstick, which made my lips look like I had been punched. Nonetheless, I managed to get it together and we left the house on schedule. We managed to find a parking spot pretty quickly (surprising consider it was DC) and started walking towards the restaurant. Remember that "random corner" from the "How we met" story? Well, after almost two years it’s not so random anymore. Every time we pass by that corner, we stop, share a kiss, and relive the our first date. As usual we stoped at the corner, shared a kiss, and took a picture. Then I noticed that we were being joined by my brother and my nephews, Danny's parents, Danny's brothers (Fernando & Cristian), and Fernando's wife Lacey. Danny proceeded to kneel and asked me to spend the rest of our lives together. I cried and my mascara ran, I told him to get up, and said yes before he had finished asking. We then went to our favorite restaurant to share our engagement dinner with our loved ones. It was perfect!
