A one way ticket to Round Top, TX with nothing but rope, zip ties and duct tape in his carry on meant two things for Jeffrey Brown. First, a "random check" by TSA was in his near future... without a doubt. And second, his mode of transportation back home was a bright, yellow Penske truck rental loaded down with one-of-a-kind antiques. After two days of driving, that Penske truck made its way to Linden Ave in Homewood, Alabama where I walked outside and saw the cutest boy coming down that rickety ramp. I was instantly smitten. Fast forward to March of 2022 and Jeffrey FINALLY asked me out on a date. We rode his four wheeler out on his dad's property and ended the night with a 5 star meal from Bojangles. That Sunday afternoon will always be one of my favorite days... it wasn't the day I met Jeffrey Brown but it was the day I really got to know the boy who walked out of the Penske truck... the boy who I had prayed for for years.
On the way to my parent's house is my favorite view in all of Tuscaloosa. It's a large field positioned so perfectly for the sun to set over it each night. For the past few years, I started to envision the thought of getting married there. But the reality of what it would take to make that dream come true burst that bubble pretty quick. On July 8, 2023 Jeffrey drove me up to the field for one of our "sunset rides" where he ended up proposing to me. He said to me "since we can't get married here, I wanted to at least ask you to marry me here. Because I know how much it means to you." and then it started raining... swoon.
