Our love story is my favorite! Jeff and I go way back--to Middle School! Apparently, Jeff had a huge crush on me back then--aww! I may have ditched him to go to a Social Distortion concert--that he also was at (oof!). We used to live on the same street, and kept in touch and connected when Jeff came home on leave from the Navy, but eventually lost contact. Fast forward to 2016, Jeff is in Boston, I am in Vegas and somehow this fun little thing called Facebook brought us back together. He asked to call me on the phone, which was SO strange to me, the millennial. We would talk on the phone for hours and eventually I decided to sneak away and visit before I officially told my family about him. My sister is a stalker and guessed where I was by less than half of a street name in a Snapchat photo. OOPS--Secret is out! He ended up coming to Jaleesa's wedding with me and as they say, when you know you know. Jeff and I have chose each other every day since. A week after the wedding, Jeff decided to quit his job, pack up and move back to Vegas to give us a real shot. I am forever grateful to him for taking such a big risk and for prioritizing me and Ethan. I am blessed beyond measure for the family and life we have created. Now we own a beautiful home together, spend most of our time doing all things baseball with Ethan and enjoy snuggling our 2 rescue puppies, Blizen and Luna. "We may not be perfect, but we are perfect for each other."
Jeff took me by surprise on January 30th, 2021 with an amazing proposal! He had my mom and sister take me to get my nails done and to get dressed up for a fun dinner. I fought him every step of the way, as he would say! I did not want to get my nails done and was really into the leggings and hoodie vibe from the pandemic, but Jeff insisted on me going out with my mom "because she has had a hard week." He steamed a perfect outfit for me--that I did not end up wearing--thanks babe! My sister picked me up and took me to my favorite restaurant, Prosecco, and within minutes had a 911 call from "Mike" to come pick him and the kids up as his truck had ran out of gas. I did not understand why Jeff couldn't just meet him with our gas can. Little did I know, they were busy prepping the house and getting ready for our family to come over for a big surprise. I was so upset, I even called Jeff to tell him I could not believe Jaleesa left the dinner! My mom and I had a fabulous dinner and she took me home, wanting to say goodnight to Blitzen (her favorite pup of ours) which was totally normal. I did not realize that as I was walking into the house she was behind me on FaceTime with more family members as well! I saw the fire pit on outside and started walking out and immediately broke down into tears of happiness. Jeff and Ethan were suited up looking SO HANDSOME with rose petals, candles and so many photos of us through the years. All of our local family members were there to celebrate with us and my niece Kaya was handling an ipad and a phone to FaceTime our Colorado family. Jeff truly took me by surprise and went above and beyond to include our loved ones. Not surprising, as most people know, family is #1 in my book and everything was PERFECT for us. I love you Jeff! This was one of the most magical nights of my life and I cannot wait to marry you. #OnceUponAKinan
