Both transplants to Omaha, Brittani from the small town of Ellsworth (North of Des Moines), Jeff from Kansas City, Mo. We spent our first year here meeting new people and committing to work. Brittani was in her Master's program for teaching. Jeff working on building Premier in a new market. Omaha slowly became home as we settled into our daily lives. Luckily, these roles would be what slowly brought us together. On Brittani's first day at Elkhorn Public Schools, she met Keli Boutwell who would quickly become one of her true life long friends. They shared a passion for helping and supporting others, as well as their love for Jesus. In May of 2018, Jeff hired one of his first salespeople to join the Premier team. His name, Brad Boutwell; you guessed it, Keli's husband. Brad and Jeff worked together for about 8 months, building not only a working relationship but a friendship. As Brad got to know Jeff and Keli good friends with Brittani it was clear to the Boutwell's that the two of us had to meet. This first thought was around October 2018. However, Keli's lack of description and Jeff's commitment to work would lead to a delay in our first date; it was not the right time. Fast forward to January and Brad continued to remind Jeff of Brittani. And Keli, for the first time, finally, showed Brittani a picture of Jeff on a Monday. We had a double date that Friday.
December 23. 2019 - Engaged Having a busy year and Brittani being a teacher we had been limited on our ability to travel throughout the year. So we decided that during Brittani's christmas break we would take advantage of the time off and travel over Christmas. We brainstormed on many places but being the homebodies we are we decided to take a short trip over to Nashville. What we looked forward to most was the live music and Christmas lights. If you know Brittani, you know that she loves Christmas lights. That being said, I started searching where the best lights would be and an appropriate place to propose. I found two places that sounded promising and scheduled them for night one and night two. If the first night felt right and lights were perfect, I would know that this was the place. So after dinner we walked down to a corner intersection where the "famous" tree was supposed to be on display. Turns out it was just a big tree with lights in what felt like an iffy part of town. This could not be the place, so I guess it was going to be night two. Or was it... We left the iffy corner and headed to the strip to enjoy some live music. As we sat there enjoying each other's company, I couldn't help but think tonight was going to be the best night. I could already feel myself not acting normal trying to keep this secret, so right there I decided it has to be tonight! We had decided to leave the current venue to go explore the strip and as we crossed Broadway boulevard, in the middle of the crosswalk I grabbed Brittani's hand to make her stop running, got down to one knee, and proceeded to ask her to be my wife. So instead of Christmas lights we settled for headlights, but the moment was perfect.
