Beautiful way to spend the day. Any of the Grand Forest trails are an absolute MUST, and it was on this hike that Maureen fell in love with PNW. Take a ferry over to the island, and spend the day on a gorgeous hike through numerous hiking trails, and head back into town for one of the best pizza restaurants we've tried here: Bruciato
People used to say that the Ballard Locks were the second-most-visited tourist attraction in Seattle, after Pike Place Market. There are many elements that make up the Locks and grounds, and not all of them are open, so we'll outline it all here in case you want to pay a visit. 1. The Locks: There is one large and one small lock, and they raise and lower boats traveling between Puget Sound and Lake Union and Lake Washington. The level of the lakes is something like 20 feet higher than the level of Puget Sound. The body of water where the Locks are is called Salmon Bay.
This is our favorite pizza spot! Jeff says its the best wood fired pizza Napolitana he's had outside of Italy! We make it a point to stop in every time we're on the island.
Cute little Mexican Restaurant that we ate at the first time we came to Seattle, and continue to grab a quick bite and cocktails whenever we don't have Zayan with us.
By far the MOST delicious Wagyu Steakhouse in the PNW at affordable prices. We absolutely love this place. This is in Tacoma (closer to where we live if you wanted to take a little trek out of Seattle). You definitely will not be disappointed.
