Travel Note

Altitude Reminder

Crested Butte sits at 9,900 feet above sea level. If you haven’t experienced high elevation before, we recommend speaking with your doctor about getting a prescription for Diamox, a medication that can help prevent altitude sickness.

Travel Note

No Ubers or Cabs

Crested Butte is a remote mountain town, and there are no Ubers or taxis available. The good news? Once you're here, you won’t need a car! The area has a reliable, free public bus system that makes it easy to get around town and the mountain.

Flight

Gunnison Airport

This airport is 30 minutes away from the hotel. There are shared shuttles, rental cars, and carpooling able to get you to your destination

Flight

Montrose Airport

Approximately 2 hours from Crested Butte. We recommend renting a car if flying into Montrose, as transportation options are more limited.

Flight

Denver International Airport

About a 4.5-hour drive to Crested Butte. This is a great option if you're concerned about adjusting to the altitude, as starting at a lower elevation helps with acclimation. We recommend making this scenic drive during daylight hours—the mountain views are stunning! Heads-up: cell service can be spotty along the way, so be sure to download your maps in advance.

Travel Note

Bustang

For those who’d rather not drive, there is a shuttle service from Denver to Crested Butte—a great option if you’d prefer to sit back, relax, and let someone else handle the mountain roads.
