If you start early enough and want to get your blood flowing a little bit to start the day, go on a short walk in this beautiful park and look for some otters and learn more about the area at the Whaler's House.
Jeff and I had our first day trip together in Big Sur. We stopped at this beach for a picnic. The flowers, succulents, and Pacific Ocean are heard to not find breathtaking.
Park, grab an ice cream from the little bus, and sit on Adirondack chairs in the river!
A must see stop, this is a the site that you see when you Google "Big Sur" a beautiful bridge and great photo op!
There a stretch here in the middle that has a lot of food options, just look around, I really like COAST if you can get there before 3pm!

The peak of the trip for Katie Jo! A short hike down to the water where you can split off in two directions - one takes you to an enchanting cove that seems fit for mermaids to be sitting on the rocks while one takes you through a tunnel to see the blue water crashing against the dark rocks of the coast. Carefully, you can climb higher on the second location to oversee beautiful swells and coastline.
I usually end my drive on Highway 1 at Partington Cove, but if you feel up to, continue driving a little longer to this iconic Big Sur waterfall for a paradise view created in nature.
On the way back up, stop at Nepenthe for the sunset. Explore the eclectic trinkets in the store and go up top for a meal inside or a hot tea or drink on the balcony where you can take in the beauty. This restaurant overlooks will give Frank Lloyd Wright architecture, it was designed by one of his students Rowen Maiden.
