There is a giant three-day eventing competition (the kind of horse stuff they do in the Olympics) the weekend of the wedding. It will be a neat festival atmosphere and some really high-quality riding!
Boutique racetrack next to the airport, famous for its fall yearling sales. The spring racing season ends April 27, but there will be morning workouts that you can watch for free all weekend. Grounds tours will also let you see the barns and learn about the history of the track--which includes an appearance by the Marquis de Lafayette!

There are a bunch of great distilleries (Willet, Four Roses, Maker's Mark, Barton 1792, Jim Beam, Elijah Craig...) in Bardstown, KY, about an hour from downtown Lexington. Tours and tastings can fill up so book ahead of time to guarantee a spot!
Decent coffee, excellent and unique specialty drinks (beet lattes, sorghum cappuccinos) and good light lunch/pastry options alongside a highly curated collection of books and comics by non-cis-white-male authors, plenty of literature about social justice in Kentucky, and ample space to work.
This place is a Lexington classic: a beer garden with excellent veggie- and allergy-friendly food, and killer soft pretzels, housed in the back of a greenhouse and nursery.

It's a bit of a haul from downtown, but if you like southern breakfast and want to see a bit of horse country along the way, it's well worth it!
World-class rock climbing and good hiking, about an hour and a half from Lexington. Contiguous with Natural Bridge State Park, which features a large sandstone arch that you can walk on.
