"Jeff and I met on a dating app. We matched and casually chatted but I would get annoyed with the online dating scene and delete the app only to reinstall it a few days later and match with Jeff again. This continued for a few months, us joking that we should receive some sort of prize for matching over 10 individual times. Things stayed virtual until I spotted him at church one Sunday. I hadn’t felt like being social and almost didn’t go that morning, so I scurried out the back door. Once I got to my car, I reinstalled the app and (not so) casually sparked up conversation with him again. In a weeks time, I was walking into Roc Brewing to meet him. Some may call it fate, but after talking that night, we listed the tens of ways that we could’ve and should’ve met throughout our lives. May it be familial connections, friends, schools, youth camps - you name it, we were likely both there at the same time. Two weeks from our date Jeff set me a screenshot of flights to Banff. Both of us thinking, this will either make it or break it. A year later, Jeff proposed at my family’s cottage - a hayfield shadowed by tall pines, right along the lake’s edge."
