We recommend Gunnison (GUC) first, Montrose (MTJ) second, and Denver (DEN) third. Gunnison (GUC) tends to be more expensive, so Montrose (MTJ) can be a good in between option.
We highly recommend it if you are flying in. Uber, Lyft, and other ride apps do not exist in the area.
Nope! As many of you know, Jeff and Brooke love a road trip, and Crested Butte / Almont is the perfect road trip destination. From Dallas, the drive is about 13 hours, and with the time change in our favor, we usually do it in one day. However, many travelers choose to break up the drive into two days and stop in Amarillo or Santa Fe.
1) Hydrate!- drink lots of water BEFORE you start you travels to CB. It's easier to get ahead on your hydration than to catch up. Once you're out here, keep on drinking water, pack it with you wherever you go. 2) Pack Layers- Whatever you do, keep in mind that at 8,000+ ft you should be prepared for any type of weather! July mostly means sunshine and daytime temps in the 70’s and dropping to the 40’s at night, but an afternoon storm could cool things off in a hurry! 3) Alcohol- At altitude, alcohol starts to effect your body sooner, so take it easy as you will likely need to drink less than at sea level. 4) Come out early- We recommend coming out early and acclimating BEFORE wedding day so you can dance with us all night long! PS - we'll be out there all week pre-wedding!
We have reserved a number of rustic cabins and hotel rooms at Harmels on the Taylor. You can call the hotel to reserve a room. Please mention that you are coming for our wedding! We would love for you to stay at the resort! There are many hotels and airbnbs in Crested Butte and Mount Crested Butte. However, this will require a bit more driving between events. Transportation is not provided. UPDATE: The wedding block will be removed May 20th (so anything we have "reserved" for the wedding will officially be open to the public for booking). If anyone is interested in staying on site, they should book before then because rooms will likely get booked quickly since it is the most popular time of the year due to the wildflower festival that weekend. Thanks for understanding!
Harmels on the Taylor is located 30 minutes from Crested Butte and about 20 minutes from Gunnison, which are where the nearest grocery stores are located.
The wedding will be outdoors and the reception will be in an enclosed tent. It will get a bit chilly when the sun goes down so we suggest bringing a light jacket!
From DEN Airport, there is a bus service that runs 7 days a week to Crested Butte which is ~30 minutes from our venue. Mobile tickets are available on the Bustang Mobile App. Tickets may also be purchased on the bus with exact change. The fare is $45 to Crested Butte. There is a bus called "Gunnison Valley RTA" that passes through Gunnison, Almont (where our wedding venue is), and Crested Butte roughly once an hour. It is timely and clean, many locals use it to commute. The bus stop is a 10 minute drive from our venue. Alpine Express is a local shuttle service that runs from the Gunnison Airport to Almont and Crested Butte. The bus stop is a 10 minute drive from our venue. If you choose to stay in Crested Butte, There is a shuttle that runs between the town of Crested Butte and the town of Mount Crested Butte every 20 minutes from 7:30am - midnight (the shuttle schedule can be found here - http://www.mtnexp.org/schedules-routes/summer/).
