The Beginning

"Any Day Spent With You Is My Favorite Day. So, Today Is My New Favorite Day.” Winnie the Pooh, The Many Adventures Of Winnie The Pooh (1977)

Their special, stupid story started when they met at The Grand Sierra Resort Bowling Center during a Monday night league session in 2022. With every week that went by, they started chit chatting more and more getting to know one another but just in a group setting. Jeannie thought (and still thinks) Roberts' jokes were dumb, and he looked like a bozo talking to his hand after every bad shot he threw. Robert thought that Jeannie was a lot of fun, and incredibly supportive of everyone who was around her. There was always some sort of commotion, and he could tell she was a hoot to be around. One night, they went to dinner with some friends and depending on who you ask, Jeannie was totally playing footsies with Robert, or vice versa. You can decide for yourself who is telling the truth. They reluctantly exchanged numbers and started texting more. While they started talking, they discovered a shared love for memes, music, animals, food, and games even though Jeannie kicks Robert’s butt at everything they play…As long as they don’t play Crash Team Racing. They even found out they went to the same elementary school and kind of grew up in the same areas around town. They did not know the other existed for so long; maybe they needed to experience life first before finding each other. In April 2023, they went out together to get sushi, another thing they share a love for. When the meal was over, they did not want the night to end so they went to a city overlook in the Northwest and spent many hours just talking and sharing music. Hours truly felt like seconds. One moment it was 10PM and in the blink of an eye, it was 2AM. OOPS! When they both went home after that, little did they know they were thinking the same thing: "Welp... I'm in trouble." But they did not admit those feelings even existed since they were not looking for anything serious.

The Middle

"I solemnly swear that I am up to no good" George Weasley, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (1999)

Jeannie started to go over to Robert's apartment more often for movies and game nights, quickly becoming best friends with Oliver, Roberts' orange flavored monkey(cat). Lucky for Robert and Oliver, she put up with many of the cats drooly nights, sneezes right in the face, and permanent markings... Unlucky for Jeannie, she is allergic to cats. The next thing they knew, they had spent almost every evening together since going out for sushi. On May 5th, 2023, Jeannie and Robert had dinner together, played video games, and went up to another city overlook - this one happened to be Robert's favorite place in town. They spent a while joking, talking, and laughing. The Reno Aces baseball game that was going on that evening had finished and it was almost time for the weekly fireworks show. Neither one knew when the game was going to end but they also did not know what would happen next – The first kiss. They felt fireworks and the world seemed to stop. When they looked into the distance to take it all in, the firework show started. WOW! With every passing day, feelings continued to grow and on July 5th, 2023, they decided to finally put a label on it and be a couple. A couple of morons that is, but a couple nonetheless. That summer, they moved in together. Though it wasn’t exactly how either of them were thinking it was going to happen, like most things, they made the most of it and have enjoyed every day together. Very shortly after deciding to be a couple, they knew that there was no one else in the world they wanted to be with. Neither of them really understood the phrase “when you know you know” but quickly realized, its true. When you know, you know…ya know?

Chapter 3

"One ring to rule them all" Gandalf, The Lord of the Rings; The Fellowship of the Ring (1954)

In the late spring/early summer of 2024, they started talking about proposals and engagements, looking at rings, and all that jazz. In September, Robert bought the engagement ring and hid it away in his office. Next steps were to plan the proposal. The original plan was to recreate the first night they spent together just the two of them, but because she is an actual Jeannie-us, Jeannie was able to guess that was how it was going to happen. Stricken with panic, Robert texted Jeannie’s best friend Lynn, who was helping with the proposal planning. The decision was made to go out to dinner and spend some time at the first lookout point to let her think it was going to happen there. But Robert wanted to keep her wondering and maybe even sprinkle a little doubt in her head that it WASN’T going to happen that night, and then do it at home in front of the ring camera so the moment could be documented. The universe had other plans, however. Robert got home from work later than expected, and neither were up to going to dinner. Time for some improv! They decided to go to the lookout point with their heated blanket and their book of 3000 questions. Well, the universe struck again, because when they got to the lookout point, the gas light in the truck came on and was shining brighter than the moon. They left to get gas, and at this point decided it was time to order some food. They went to pick up food from their favorite Flowing Tide, dropped it off inside, and then went back out to the truck to bring in the blanket and book. When they got to the front door, in front of the ring camera, Robert popped the question and his knees. Once again being the Jeannie-us that she is, she knew it was coming, and she got down on one knee, which surprisingly didn’t pop, and presented a silicone ring and also proposed! The next day, after settling into the newly engaged life, Jeannie shared an interesting bit of information. As it turns out, Robert is not good at keeping secrets and he cannot hide his stress and anxiety to save his life, so he ended up spoiling the entire proposal IN HIS SLEEP!
