We officially met in 2011 at The Backyard in Austin, TX where we saw Arcade Fire and Explosions in the Sky perform. Our mutual friend, Brad Foster, introduced us but we didn't say much to each other at that first meeting. Shortly after, I (Stephanie) messaged Alex on facebook to share a cover of an Arcade Fire song and we had a brief exchange of sharing songs we thought the other would like until Alex deleted his facebook and we forgot all about each other as the next eight years passed by. Then in May of 2019 Brad told me about a trip he was going on with his old college roommate and friend Alex. I mentioned to Brad that I remembered Alex and that we shared songs with each other years ago. Brad went on his trip and happened to mention this tidbit to Alex. Alex then slid into my DMs on instagram asking if we could share songs with each other again and I, of course, said yes. This led to many messages between each other, that then led to phone calls, that then led to facetimes, that then led to Alex coming to Austin to see me two months later. The moment we saw each other we knew we were totally into each other and became an official couple and the rest is history!
