Flight

Washington Reagan National Airport (DCA)

Just outside the city, DCA is a 15- to 20-minute car ride from the airport to downtown DC (depending on traffic, as always). This airport is a great option for east coasters but those traveling from the west and midwest may find fewer flight times and more options with a layover.

Flight

Dulles International Airport (IAD)

The largest of the DC area airports, Dulles will likely have the most flight time options of all airports, as well as more nonstop options. A 45- to 60-minute car ride to downtown DC.

Flight

Thurgood Marshall/Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI)

The farthest airport from downtown DC, use the shuttle to the Amtrak or Marc train station to take the train down to Union Station in Washington, DC. BWI often has affordable flights on Southwest coming from the west and midwest.

Train

Washington Union Station ( WAS)

Great option for those coming from the east coast, a train ride can be comfortable and efficient - especially if you hate sitting in I-95 traffic! Most trains have WiFi and a snack car.
