TFU (Chengdu Tianfu International Airport) The other airport handles only domestic. For international flights, you would fly into TFU
In China, your passport is your identity and ticket. Every place including train stations and any place that has an entrance fee requires you to scan your passport and your face using a facial recognition device. You will not be allowed in anywhere without your passport. Your train ticket and your attraction tickets will all be tied to your passport and you need it to get in and get out In train stations, they will also check your bags TSA style like at the airport every single time. Liquids are ok to carry on trains but they will most likely ask you to take a sip to verify it is not flammable or poisonous
1. ESIM or Data Roaming. Internet is a MUST and you cannot survive China without. E-SIMs should already have a VPN installed so you can still use apps like whatsapp etc... 2. YOU DO NOT NEED CASH AT ALL!!! 3. Alipay - this is the main form of payment you will be using along with maybe apple pay. This is also the app you use to call taxis 4.Amap (google map equivalent) 5.Rednote (tik tok equivalent)
1.Drugs... obviously 2.Portable batteries are a NO NO on Chinese airline flights due to a number of them combusting in the air. They will make you surrender your portable battery if it does not meet the number of conditions set by the aviation committee
Use the Alipay app and there is a section for taxis/also called Didi. It works like an uber, you set a destination and call it to you. Certain areas like airports and train stations have designated areas to call and get in your Didi
Alipay has a payment method installed in it where you load money to it and each vendor will have a qr code that you scan to send money to. Vendors DO NOT TAKE CASH OR CREDIT CARDS. Its all electronic payment
A lot of vendors will haggle you persistently to buy and try. Just ignore them if you're not interested and never feel pressured to buy
