Jeanette and Pete met after their first year of medical school at Army Basic Officer Training in San Antonio, Texas. Although only friends at the time, they were reunited when they were both stationed at Joint Base Lewis McChord for their residencies. In One Hundred and One Dalmatian style, they began spending time together after realizing that they were both proud dog parents to Rhodesian Ridgebacks. In reality, their dogs fell in love first. But after a few romantic dinners sharing wine they couldn’t pronounce and realizing their mutual love for drinking good beer while overlooking the Sound, their love followed soon after. Over many sleepless nights on call and endless adventures and antics with their pups, their bond as a family and love for each other grew.
Jeanette and Pete planned a weekend at Seabrook, Washington during a three month stretch of Pete working across the state. They loaded up their two anxious 100 pound dogs, and drove to the coast. Pete intended to surprise Jeanette with the proposal. However after many poorly veiled hints that the weekend would be very memorable, Jeanette got a last minute manicure. Pete proposed to Jeanette on a rainy morning walk with dogs on the beach in true Pacific Northwest style.
The COVID pandemic created a lot of uncertainties, but one thing Jeanette and Pete were absolutely sure of was their love for each other. They decided to elope and postpone celebrating with family and friends. During a quiet, rainy ceremony overlooking the sound with Erica and Matt, two dear friends, as witnesses, Jeanette and Pete tied the knot! We are so excited to finally celebrate with our loved ones!
