It was a Friday night in South Boston. Sean had been living in Southie for two weeks after moving from California for his job in the Seaport. Jeanette and her roommate found seats at the bar in Capo upstairs (if you know, you know). When her roommate went to the bathroom, Sean saw his chance. He approached Jeanette with a friendly, “Hey, what flavor High Noon are you drinking?” Jeanette, with a playful smile, replied, “Pineapple.” To their surprise, Sean was sipping on a pineapple High Noon too. They bonded over their shared taste in cocktails, traded stories, and enjoyed a few laughs. And just like that, the night turned into something memorable.
On their first date, Jeanette shared with Sean her love for city lights as they drove through the Ted Williams Tunnel on their way to the North End. The weekend before they met, Sean had visited the top of the Custom House Tower with family friends, and was captivated by the view of Boston's skyline. Over the next two years, he often spoke about how much he wanted to take Jeanette there. When Sean finally took Jeanette to the top, she thought it was a birthday surprise. Little did she know, after climbing up 250 steps due to a broken elevator, Sean had a romantic proposal waiting for her at the top.
