We went on vacation to the Hawaiian Island of Oahu for one of his close friend’s weddings. I already knew that Jean had planned a professional photography session for just the two of us after the wedding that same week. I had been wanting to get pictures done with him for a long time, so I figured “Oh that’s nice, we’ll be getting them done in Hawaii! Perfect place for them.” (Not thinking anything of it)… He had the session completely planned out already with the photographer the whole time. We showed up at the Alan Davis Beach, the plan was for us to walk all the way down the old volcano path to the beach. At the end of the path, of course, I had gotten distracted by a little coconut on the ground… (Sorry, Jean. Didn’t know what you had planned for us yet. Thanks for being patient with me.) Right when we had gotten to the sand, we saw the photographer and her assistant hiding behind some trees, to capture the sweet moment. Jean tried to play it off by saying “Oh they just wanted to get pictures of us coming down the path…” But then I saw it… Beautiful flowers on the sand in the shape of a heart. For a split second I thought “Wait… Maybe? No… But maybe?” Then, as I turned around to look at him, he knelt down with a huge grin on his face. I still was in disbelief and always will be. The love of my life asked me to marry him. Honestly, it was a dream-come-true proposal. The greatest location and in the most beautifully planned out way.
