We will be dressed formally, Feel free to do the same. Sunday best to us is a collared shirt or a sundress. PLEASE wear flat shoes that are easy to walk in. We have a dressing room set up, so after lunch, change into your bathing suit, lake clothes, or whatever your comfortable in and enjoy the day with us!
Anything comfortable! This is an outdoor wedding/reception on uneven ground, with many hills. We advise something you can hike in and be steady on your feet. That being said, we will have a side by side or two taking folks around to each destination (coffee, ceremony and reception) if you'd prefer that over walking!
MEADOWS OF DAN! Four wheeling through the woods and fishing the lake. Playing in the field and tromping through the trails. Tractor rides and hammock naps spent under the big tree. Church with the Plasters and working at Pete’s produce stand. Growing up, the Osbornes spent nearly every weekend here with family and friends. Birthday cookouts and holiday weekends were spent making lifelong memories. “The Mountains” has a very special place in our hearts. We hope you will feel the same.
The wedding will happen rain or shine! Bring a rain jacket or umbrella & come celebrate with us! for those not wanting to be in the rain, there will be a tent at the reception site you are welcome to hang out under at any time!
Parking is limited. If you can, please carpool with others who are staying near you. We will be parking folks across the street at our neighbors house. Please be respectful of their property and as silly as it sounds, look both ways before crossing the street. People fly down this road!
Whenever you want to leave. After lunch everyone is encouraged to hang out around the lake to catch a tan, fish, swim, hike, splash in the creek or enjoy each others company!
Absolutely, we want this to be about love, family & fun. The day will be spent around a sizeable lake, so please keep that in mind. Bring any necessary floats, lifevests, etc. to keep them safe. We will have a lifegaurd on duty, but it is still your responsibility to keep a close eye on your kids.
Yes!! Bring your kayak, fishing rods, stand up paddle boards, water floats, inter tubes, etc. When you get to the property you will see a drop site for anything you’d like taken to the lake. We will bring them to the lake for you after the ceremony.
YES. Unless you have been asked, please do not enter the main green house by the road. Also, for safety reasons we will have the dam at the end of the lake roped off, please do not cross over the ropes. The dam gets VERY slippery.
The lake is stocked with rainbow trout. There’s also brim and large mouth bass. We ask if you fish for trout you keep what you catch. Feel free to bring a cooler. The trout don’t survive catch and release, so if you want to catch one, keep it, filet it up. We’ll have a cutting board and a hose you can use.
July 25, 2025.
There is also a gas station with a food market inside that has produce, milk and small groceries. You’ll be surprised how much it has honestly! It is directly across the street from The Poor Farmers Market. The address for this gas station/food market is 2609 Jeb Stewart Hwy, Meadows of Dan, Virginia, 24120 The Poor Farmers Market is a great place for made to order sandwiches, sodas and icecream by the scoop! If you haven’t ever had a fried apple pie, do not sleep on the ones that are made here. This place also has cute souvenirs, kids toys, local jellies, jams, slingshots, books, knives… You name it, it’s probably there. There are two Poor Farmers Markets, both are great but the other one is just produce. The address for poor farmers market with deli & shopping is 2616 Jeb Stewart Hwy, Meadows of Dan, Virginia, 24120 There is also a Dollar Store in Meadows of Dan. For larger needs, there is a Walmart in Stuart which is down the mountain about 25 minutes or so.
About 6 minutes from the “venue” is an overlook called Lovers Leap. It’s beautiful. Check it out (:
