Short Version We met through a mutual friend at college. Long Version (As told by Tessa) Well...it all started when I decided to do a study abroad program in Spain over the winter semester. Loren was also in the same program, and her randomly assigned roommate was this chick named Kelsey. They became super close friends during the trip, and since we were all in the same program, I also got to know her. Five weeks later we were back at UD, getting ready for the spring semester. Turned out, Kelsey was besties with some boys who lived on the floor above me. She invited me upstairs to hangout with her friends and I begrudgingly accepted because I love meeting new people (I hope the sarcasm comes across alright through text). I stepped into the tiny dorm room to find it packed with four couples and one guy sitting on a desk in the corner. I was super awkward and just stood in the doorway trying to think of an excuse to leave when the single guy excitedly shouts, "I love meeting new people!" If you haven't already guessed it, that guy was Jean. Later that night, a different Spain friend was having a party at their house on campus. Kelsey invited those same friends to join us, including Jean. Since we were the only two single people in that group, we ended up walking together and talking a bunch. And well, the rest is history! So Kelsey, this is all thanks to you!

Versión Corta Fuimos introducidos por una amiga en común. Versión Larga (La versión de Tessa) Bueno… todo comenzó cuando decidí participar en un programa de estudio en España durante un semestre en la universidad. Mi hermana Loren también fue parte del programa y a ella le asignaron una compañera de habitación llamada Kelsey. Todas nos conocimos y nos volvimos muy buenas amigas. Cinco semanas después, habíamos vuelto a UD (la Universidad de Delaware) y nos estábamos alistando para el próximo semestre. Resulta que Kelsey era muy buena amiga de unos chicos que vivían en el piso arriba del nuestro. Ella me invito a subir y pasar un tiempo con sus amigos, y yo subí pensando que solamente los iba a saludar (todo el mundo sabe cuánto me gusta conocer gente nueva). Entré al cuartito y vi a cuatro parejas y a un chico sentado en un escritorio en la esquina. Me quede parada en la puerta tratando de pensar en una excusa para volver a mi habitación cuando el chico de la esquina dice, “¡Que emoción, amigos nuevos!”. Si no lo haz adivinado, ese chico era Jean. Esa noche, otro amigo que conocimos en España tuvo una fiesta y Kelsey invitó a sus amigos, incluyendo a Jean. Él y yo caminamos juntos a la fiesta ya que todos los otros estaban emparejados y despues nos pasamos la noche hablando. Bueno, ¡el resto es historia! ¡Gracias a Kelsey por introducirnos!

It was a gorgeous Sunday afternoon. Our friends met up with us at UD for brunch on The Green. We were all enjoying the nice weather, chatting, eating some Main Street food, and throwing the frisbee around. A little while later we packed up to take a walk around campus. We get to this spot in the middle of The Green called the Kissing Arches* and stop to take a picture. This just so happened to be the same spot he and I had our very first kiss, so Jean suggested he and I take a picture of just the two of us. As we're up there getting ready for the picture, he surprises everyone by getting down on one knee and proposing! *Between 1914 and 1945, The Green was actually home to two schools: Delaware College on the North Green and the Women’s College on the South Green. The kissing arches, located on both sides of Memorial Hall, were where sweethearts would say goodnight before heading back to their residence halls in time for curfew.

Era un bello domingo en la tarde y nos reunimos con nuestros amigos en UD para un “brunch”. Estábamos disfrutando el clima, hablando, comiendo, y jugando con un frisbee. Después de un rato, decidimos caminar por el campus y llegamos a un sitio en el centro de la universidad llamado The Kissing Arches* y paramos a tomar una foto. Resulta que este es el mismo sitio en el que nos habíamos dado nuestro primer beso siete años atrás y Jean sugirió que nos tomemos una foto solo él y yo. Mientras nos alistamos para tomar la foto, él nos sorprendió a todos y se arrodilló! *Entre el 1914 y el 1945, habían dos universidades en el campus: Delaware College en el norte y The Women’s College en el sur.
