What seems like a lifetime ago, JD and I were members of a community service club at our high school. While we were taking the club yearbook photo, I was lucky enough to catch sight of JD's silly and outgoing personality. We exchanged some flirty smiles and afterwards I was set on giving him my number. We then spent the next few weeks going on In-and-Out and drive-in dates. He asked me to be his girlfriend in the sweetest way and six years later asked me to be his wife.
Valentine's Day weekend, I hadn't had a weekend away from the Police Academy since it started in mid-October but with romance (and the long President's Day weekend) on my mind, I booked an "anniversary trip" to Big Bear Lake, CA. We stayed in a cozy, little cabin, walked the town, ate well and on Saturday the 16th, I took Kelsey on an "easy" 2.5 mile hike up a snow covered rock trail. We hiked nearly a thousand feet and climbed up on a boulder to see the most amazing view of Big Bear Lake and the valley. We sat for a little, talked, reminisced and laughed. Next thing Kelsey knew I was on one knee, asking her to spend the rest of our lives together.
