Nowhere. We don’t want presents (or your money). We really, really, really can’t emphasize enough that ALL WE WANT is to be able to spend time with you. We know the travel involved with coming to our wedding is expensive, and we are so grateful you are willing to do it. We are also about to move across the country, so consider the “no gift” plan a favor to us. If you must give us something, we are happy to accept hugs, well wishes, and visitors in New Mexico. Or, come to northern Michigan a day earlier than planned and hang out with us!
Traverse City does have an airport (Cherry Capital Airport - TVC). Alternatively, you could fly into Grand Rapids (GRR) or Detroit (DTW) and drive up (2-3hr from GRR; 4-5hr from DTW). There are also two car ferries from Wisconsin to Michigan (Manitowoc WI --> Ludington MI; Milwaukee WI --> Muskegon MI). It will probably require renting a car as well if you are traveling from a distance. There is a bus between downtown Suttons Bay and Traverse City, but won't get you close enough to the wedding. We know this can be complicated - contact one of us if you need help! Other options include hitchhiking, regular hiking, sailing, and kitesurfing.
We want you to be comfortable and to feel free to dress however formally or casually you want. Most wedding-related events will be outside, weather permitting (with the exception of some of the reception which will be in a barn). ----------------------------------- Some specific thoughts: ----------------------------------- High heels may not be practical in the hilly outdoor area. Ties and/or jackets are not necessary, unless you really love that sort of thing. Wear shorts if it's hot. And if you have a favorite tie-dyed t-shirt your mom won't let you wear, tell her we said you should. We can (almost) guarantee a wedding temperature between 40F and 100F. Please check the weather forecast, and consider bringing an extra layer in case of wind, cold, or rain.
Ciccone Vineyard can accommodate about 50 cars on the property, along the driveway, and on the grass near the barn. Someone will be directing cars before the wedding. Carpool if you can! Make sure you designate a driver (and let someone know if you need a safe ride home). Parking is prohibited on Hilltop Road across from the Winery.
There will be a barn and a tent available. Why are you being so pessimistic? The weather will be great.
Dinner party Friday night in Leland ---------------- Women's 5K/10K trail run on Sunday in Lake Leelanau: Runsignup.com/mrg10K5K or email/text Allison for details -------------------- If you haven't already let us know your plans for arrival and departure, please do! We would love to get a little extra time with you!
Because YOU are our wedding party! Not much of what we're doing feels traditional, and doing the traditional wedding party thing didn't feel quite "us." You are all special to us, and we don't really need help getting dressed...we want you to wear what you want, spend your weekend how you want, and sit with who you want. Wedding parties are AWESOME - just not what we want for ourselves. There are a few people we've asked to have help with parts of the day, but we're inviting a small enough crew you'll surely get to know them in August. And we'll be asking just about everyone for small favors the week of the wedding, so be prepared, all you brilliant drivers, errand runners, organizers, flower pickers, and photographers ;-)
